Academic Excellence

Former pupils from Edinburgh’s George Heriot’s School dominated one of the main awards categories on the night.

Former Dux of George Heriot’s, James Matthew was named Academic Excellence Award winner after stunning the judging panel with his performance in his Advanced Higher exams earlier this year. Incredibly James scored an average of 99.46 percent across all his Advanced Highers and even achieved a perfect 100% in his Mathematics and Applied Mathematics exams.

James wasn’t the only former Heriot’s pupil to shine as Jack Holligan and Felicia Law were also highly commended in the same category.

Heriot’s didn’t have it all their own way as current Cambridge University maths student and former Boroughmuir High School pupil Dugald Hepburn and Calum Worsley from Dollar Academy in Clackmannanshire rounded off the quintet with their highly commended awards.
