Lifelong Learning Candidate of the Year

Barrie Wilson, a workplace assessor and internal verifier from Arbroath lifted the accolade for SQA Lifelong Learning Candidate of the Year.  His career began as a volunteer with the St. Aidans project in Dundee.  He then trained as a skills officer with the then Tayside Regional Council, working with adults with learning difficulties.  Barrie then completed his HND in Social Care and was later employed as a residential care worker and has also qualified as an SVQ Assessor.  Barrie has since joined the training section within the council’s social work department gaining a number of essential qualifications including his SQA External Verifiers certificate.

Sadia Sharif, from City of Glasgow College and Carol Ann Sinclair from Coatbridge Community Centre were both highly commended.
