Initial Review

Most centres already have a course/programme team responsible for each Group Award they run. This team will usually be made up of lecturers delivering the Group Award, and will usually be responsible for compiling an annual report. This team in specialist single-centre developments will usually be the group which takes forward the review of a qualification. It will include not only those responsible for delivering the main subject area of the HNC/HND, but also those responsible for any servicing Units (eg Communications Units in an IT HNQ, where communication is important, but is not part of the main subject of the qualification). This team is the ‘Qualification Design Team’ or ‘QDT’ which is referred to throughout this guide. In some instances, in specialist collaborative awards, this Qualification Design Team will be drawn from a number of colleges.
