SCQF Level And Credit Points

There may be occasions when individual Units are still fit for purpose and do not need to be re-written. The minimum requirement is that the Unit is allocated to an SCQF level and is allocated SCQF level points. In this case, you can request that the Unit is allocated to an SCQF level by completing a DAVAL 3 form (see SQA Form 3).

The Qualification Design Team should discuss the Unit, identify and suggest an SCQF level, noting the rationale for that decision, and then submit a copy of the Unit together with the completed form DAVAL 3 to the HN/SVQ Product Team at SQA. However, remember that use of the revised HN Unit specification is strongly recommended, and you should think very carefully about any issues involved in delivering old-style and new-style HN Units within one Group Award.

If you are using this method as a way of phasing development, it is strongly recommended that the revised HN Unit specifications are used for all Units in the mandatory section of the Group Award. There is a note on SCQF levels, and some guidance, in Appendix 2.
