SQA enters into agreement with BCS
Signing the agreement are Jeanette Miller, Director of Business Development at BCS and Dr Janet Brown, SQA Chief Executive
SQA has signed a new agreement with one of Britain’s leading bodies for IT professionals. The Memorandum of Understanding with BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, will give learners undertaking relevant SQA computing qualifications the opportunity to access the benefits associated with being a member of the Institute.
As part of the agreement, SQA will encourage BCS membership among candidates, teachers and lecturers and the two bodies will also work together to collaborate on the development of future qualifications.
Dr Janet Brown, SQA Chief Executive, said: “This agreement gives both organisations the chance to promote the benefits of industry-ready qualifications and the career development opportunities they can present to learners. The collaboration between SQA and BCS will see us working together to share expertise and knowledge, develop qualifications that the global IT industry can rely upon giving learners a great start and guide them throughout their careers.”
SQA’s Director of Business Systems and BCS Fellow, Rob Gibson, said: “Being a member of BCS has had a positive effect on my career. Having access to a vast network of dedicated computing and IT professionals has benefitted me personally, but also meant I could bring industry best practice into SQA and apply those principles to the systems we use, ultimately delivering a better service for our centres and learners.”
Martyn Lambert, Chief Executive of BCS L&D Ltd, part of BCS, said: “As the Chartered Institute for IT, we are delighted to be working with SQA in this way and supporting the next generation of IT professionals as they develop their careers.”
