Certificate Principles of Sustainable Resource Management SCQF levels 5 and 6

SQA offer a wide range of relevant waste management qualifications which are all developed in association with the industry.

These qualifications are available at SCQF levels 5 and 6 and they have been designed to provide the knowledge components in the Sustainable Resource Management Modern Apprenticeship. These certificates underpin a broad range of roles in the collection, transport, treatment and final management of waste and resources, at both operator and supervisory levels.

These qualifications are available through training providers and further education colleges.

These qualifications provide entry into the sustainable waste management industry for apprentices as their first step on the employment ladder and are also suitable for those already employed in this sector.

Although intended for use in apprenticeship schemes, these qualifications can be used on a standalone basis whereby they offer excellent general knowledge within the sustainable waste management and resource environment.

The qualifications are assessed in a variety of ways including, for example: on-the-job; formal classroom teaching and learning; tutorials; and other appropriate assessment methods.

The qualifications have been designed to enable continued study to supervisory, management and professional qualifications as required by the individual and the sector.

They can be offered in any of the following modes:

  • full-time
  • part-time (eg day-release)
  • open and distance learning
  • infill into existing classes
  • evening provision

The qualifications provide progression opportunities into both continued study and more formal professional qualifications, as required by the individual and the sector.

These qualifications are suitable for a range of workers within sustainable resource management — from the new employee to the experienced worker wishing to progress in their career.

They are suitable for candidates who are completing the Modern Apprenticeship in Sustainable Resource Management.

The SCQF level 5 qualification will suit candidates who are working in the sustainable resource management industry and have some relevant knowledge and skills.

The SCQF level 6 qualification will suit candidates who are working in the sustainable resource management industry, who have some relevant skills and knowledge and will be hoping to progress to a team leader, supervisory or management role.

Access

Entry is at the discretion of the centre.
