Certificate in ITQ Social Software at QCF level 1
The ITQ Social Software suite of qualifications provides a simplified, flexible framework for recognising achievement in Social Software skills. The framework provides qualifications at QCF Levels 1, 2 and 3, thus allowing a seamless progression path for learners.
The aim of the SQA Level 1 Certificate in ITQ Social Software is to provide a qualification, which introduces learners to the development and use of social software and to address a demand for provision of an introductory qualification into the use of social software, and which emphasises the importance of safe use of the internet.
The qualification at QCF Level 1 is designed for learners with limited experience in the use of social software. The units will provide the underpinning knowledge and understanding, as well as practical experience to enable learners to progress in further education or into the world of work.
The qualification provides learners with knowledge and skills to work confidently in the area of social software and deals with tasks that are straightforward and/or routine. A learner will be able to operate social/collaborative software and hardware with confidence in the areas s/he chooses to study.

Who does this qualification suit
This qualification is suitable for a wide range of learners, and is particularly appropriate for young people who wish to gain knowledge of communications, social/collaborative software and hardware. It is also suitable for mature learners as an entry to the world of work.
No previous knowledge of computers is required. Learners are likely to have very basic IT knowledge, perhaps at Entry 3 level.
Learners may wish to enhance their skills by progressing to SQA Level 2 Certificate In ITQ Social Software (QCF). Learners will find their employment opportunities enhanced and may also benefit from online services.
Centres with devolved authority for approval should use their own internal approval process.
Centres without devolved authority will have to come forward for approval and should contact SQA’s Business Development Team for guidance.
Assessors and verifiers must be able to meet SQA’s general requirements for technical/occupational competence as outlined in the Guide to Approval.
