This qualification covers complying with statutory regulations and organisational requirements, using and interpreting engineering data and documentation, and working efficiently and effectively in engineering.

Candidates must also complete one pathway. There are six pathways to choose from including: Pipe and Tube Fabrication, Welding Machine Setting and Operating, and Sheet Metalworking 3 mm or less.

This qualification is available through employers and training providers.

Why deliver this qualification

Learners will gain an internationally recognised qualification which guarantees that they have the skills, knowledge and abilities required to carry out their role successfully. Employers will also benefit from their employees being proficient.

As assessment is carried out in the workplace this minimises any time learners would need to be away from their work.

This SVQ allows specialisation in the skills being developed, meeting the needs of each candidate for their own particular work role.

Who does this qualification suit

This SVQ is likely to be undertaken by those working as, or hoping to work as, welding operatives, welders, fabricators or sheet metal workers.
