Malaysia formally recognises SQA HND qualifications

SQA has announced that one of our Higher National Diploma qualifications has been officially recognised by the body responsible for the quality assurance of higher education in Malaysia.

The Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) has acknowledged SQA's Higher National Diploma in Business as having equivalency to a Level 4 (Diploma) on the Malaysian Qualifications Framework for higher education qualifications

SQA Chief Executive, Dr Janet Brown, said: “This decision by the MQA means Malaysian students will have the opportunity to study our Higher National Diploma and upon completion, progress onto degree programmes at universities at home and around the world.

“We believe this approval provides a firm footing for a successful journey between SQA and the Malaysian education authorities, where our qualifications become part of an extensive portfolio available in Malaysia, giving learners the chance to acquire internationally recognised qualifications and develop knowledge and skills that will enable them to realise their ambitions.”

Earlier this year, SQA strengthened its links with Malaysia by signing a memorandum of understanding with the Malaysian Ministry of Human Resources to map and develop internationally recognised vocational qualifications in-line with the Malaysian Government’s wider Economic Transformation Programme.
