Advanced Higher - Item Bank Leader Opportunities

Are your ready to put your experience as an appointee to good use and progress through the appointee structure. This is a challenging role but one which will bring many personal and professional benefits.

We currently have opportunities for an Item Bank Leader for the new Advanced Higher qualifications in: Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics

(Please note that the IBL in Chemistry may oversee the Item Bank at Higher and National 5)

An Item Bank Leader is responsible for the management of the Item Bank to ensure sufficient items/questions are available to produce question papers, monitor the production and checking of items/questions, and the supporting marking instructions under the direction of the Principal Assessor. The Item Bank Leader role profile provides details of the contract specification, selection criteria and key performance measures. Additional support and training, if required, will be provided to support the successful applicant.

The Item Bank Leader role will require a combination of release and duties in own time. We anticipate a release requirement of up to 5 days per year.

Higher - Senior Team Leader Opportunities

Higher Senior Marker Opportunities

This could be your opportunity to further support the delivery of the new Higher Qualifications as SQA are looking for experienced teaching professionals with Marker experience to support the quality assurance process of Course assessments across a limited range of Higher Courses.

We are now recruiting for a new role of Senior Marker. Senior Markers must currently be delivering Higher Courses in their subject and have previous Marking experience. National 5 - Team Leader Opportunities

As National 5 entries are projected to increase and we expect some of our National 5 Team Leaders to move on the new Higher team, we are recruiting additional Team Leaders for specific National 5 qualifications to support the role of the Principal Assessor.

Team Leaders will require between 4 and 6 days release per year.  Duties in own time will also be required.

Senior Team Leader Opportunity in Business Management

We have a new opportunity for a Senior Team Leader in National 5 Business Management. The primary role is to work with and support the Principal Assessor and manage the Team Leaders, in the delivery of external quality assurance for the National 5 qualification and to ensure that national standards are being consistently applied and maintained.

Quality Assurance - Verification Opportunities

Senior Team Leader Opportunities (Verification)

Following a previous recruitment we still have a range of opportunities for Senior Team Leaders (Verification) across a range of subjects in the new qualifications. The primary role is to work with and support the Principal Verifier and manage the Team Leaders (where appropriate), in the delivery of external quality assurance, to ensure that national standards are being consistently applied and maintained. The Senior Team Leader will also support the PV with prior verification activity and in cases of appeals by centres.

Please refer to this information in your application. Experience of external quality assurance (Verification) in year 1 will be an advantage.

Principal Verifier – Gaelic (Learners)

We have a new opportunity for a Principal Verifier for Gaelic (Learners) who will commence duties in January 2015.

SQA recognises the pivotal role that the Principal Verifier will play in continuing the successful new Quality Assurance arrangements of the new National Qualifications for Gaelic (Learners). Previous experience of the new Quality Assurance arrangements last session will be beneficial to the applicant.

An application form is available for download and must be submitted with a completed Reference/Release form. Principal Verifiers will normally require between 6 and 10 days release and will also be required to undertake duties in their own time. We anticipate that 6 days release will be required for this this role.

Interviews for successful applicants will be held in our Glasgow office. All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application.
