DIVA and the SCQF
The Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) is intended to help employers, learners and the general public understand the full range of Scottish qualifications and how qualification Units fit together and link to other learning programmes.
The framework describes courses and programmes that lead to qualifications, identifies progression options, and clarifies opportunities for credit transfer.
The importance of credit rating and levelling on the SCQF is endorsed by the Scottish Government as it challenges employers, learning providers, awarding bodies and others to use the framework as a tool to support and facilitate the recognition of learning and to enable learners to move smoothly through different learning environments, getting credit for the learning they have already achieved. This model is also endorsed by sector skills councils.
If vendor training programmes are credit rated and levelled on the SCQF it is easy to see where they fit with SQA and other awarding body qualifications.
How can a vendor link a training programme to an SQA qualification framework?
Where appropriate to the rationale and aims of SQA qualifications, vendors can have their own curriculum units included in specified qualification frameworks.
The process is outlined in the following documents:
- Vendor accreditation process (403 KB)
- Vendor accreditation Part A form (28 KB)
- Vendor accreditation Part B form (32 KB)
Alliance members who wish to include a programme within an SQA qualification, should contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
