SQA Progression Partners
SQA has partnered with a select range of highly respected institutions across the globe. We want to partner with institutions who can provide a quality learning experience for HND students progressing from diploma to degree.
SQA Progression Partners are higher education institutions who recognise the SQA HND and allow students to apply directly to the second and/or third year of their relevant degree programmes.
Becoming an SQA Progression Partner will help you recruit students from International SQA centres located around the world. SQA currently deliver HNDs in a diverse range of countries and our international footprint is growing steadily.
We will provide you with all the information you will need to make the decision that the SQA HND meets your requirements for advanced entry to the relevant degree programmes. SQA has rigorous approval and quality assurance procedures meaning our qualifications can be trusted wherever in the world they are delivered.
SQA is an International accreditation and awarding body accountable to the Scottish Government, and sits at the heart of Scotland’s world-renowned education system.
We welcome approaches from institutions interested in exploring how we could work together.
SQA HND – What it means in:
SQA's esteemed partner in China the Chinese Centre for Scholarly Exchange has worked closely with Education New Zealand (ENZ) and the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) on an explanatory paper setting out information on the Scottish Qualifications Authority’s Higher National Diploma (HND), as delivered in China. It demonstrates the quality assurance process in the approval and delivery of the SQA HND and fit with the New Zealand tertiary system.
Successful SQA HND graduates can benefit from advanced entry to a variety of UK Institutions. The HND is recognised and highly regarded by employers across the country as evidence of an individual’s knowledge and ability. The SQA HND is a Higher Education qualification sitting at SCQF Level 8, equivalent of QCF/ FHEQ/ EQF Level 5. Students must achieve a minimum of 240 SCQF Credit Points to achieve the HND.
Many Professional Bodies in the UK also recognise the quality and value of an SQA HND and allow graduates to gain exemptions (partial and full) to professional body exams. The HND is also accepted as a membership entry requirement. More than a third of SQAs HND portfolio has formal links with one or more professional bodies. For further info see How the SQA HND links to Professional Bodies.
