Anna Watson collects the award on behalf of Callum Watson from Michelle Gibson of Skills Development Scotland
Callum Watson, a former pupil of Balfron High School, was named winner of the Academic Excellence Award, which is presented to the school candidate with the highest average mark across their SQA assessments. Callum was recognised by the Institute of Physics as the outright highest achiever in Scotland, scoring 100% in Higher Physics and Higher Chemistry, and 129/130 in Higher Mathematics. He is now studying at Cambridge University.

Highly commended in the same category was Laura O’Donnell, formerly of Lenzie Academy in East Dunbartonshire: Samuel Ramsahoye and Samuel Riley, former pupils of Stewart’s Melville College in Edinburgh and Cameron Swanson, a former pupil of Castlehead High School in Paisley.
