SQA Academy Course - Assessment in new National Courses and Units
26 March 2015
We have developed an online Course to help teachers and lecturers develop their understanding of assessment in the new National Courses and Units.
Assessment in the new National Courses and Units contains helpful information on assessment, with links to further information and suggested reading, and also contains some suggested templates which may be useful when conducting assessments. An earlier version of the Course was published in June 2014, which was trialled by teachers and colleagues from Education Scotland, and has now been revised.
The Course covers four key topics:
- Question paper assessment
- Coursework and Added Value assessments
- Developing Unit assessments
- Applying SQA Unit assessment support
The Course is designed to build upon teachers’ and lecturers’ knowledge of assessment in the new National Qualifications and increase their understanding of things like assessment methods, conditions of assessment, assessment evidence, marking assessments and verification. It also provides more information on the principles that underpin assessment in the new National Qualifications
Assessment in the new National Courses and Units is available on SQA Academy. The Course is open to all teachers and lecturers delivering the new National Qualifications and it can be completed at any time.
