DWF win prestigious Scottish Business in the Community award
Scottish Business in the Community (SBC) has announced the winners of its annual awards, which celebrate companies that make Scotland a better place in which to live and work.
Winners on the evening included legal firm DWF, who received Scottish Business in the Community’s Award for Closing the Education Gap, supported by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA).
Maidie Cahill, Director of Corporate Services at SQA, said: “We were delighted to sponsor the Closing the Education Gap Award, which recognises the great work businesses are doing to tackle educational inequality. SQA is committed to mainstreaming equality in its qualifications and operations for the benefit of all learners and the employers, training providers, colleges and schools that we work with.
DWF have demonstrated their commitment to tackling educational inequality through an innovative education programme that delivers tailored workshops to over 30 schools across the UK, including in Edinburgh and Glasgow. We wish to congratulate them for their achievements.”
Jane Wood, CEO of Scottish Business in the Community, said: “This is the first year we’ve opened the awards to all businesses in Scotland and we’ve been thrilled with the quality of the applications. There’s such a huge amount of excellent work around the responsible business agenda, picking the winners was very difficult but incredibly rewarding as the judging panel read about so many great examples of business embedding our core values of fairness, equality and sustainability into the heart of their operations.”
