SQA across the globe
SQA is pleased to be supporting countries within emerging markets to develop their education provision providing residents with the opportunities to progress and develop in life. As part of this work we have a number of approved centres in Myanmar which are helping to develop pathways through the delivery of HNDs.
KMD Computer Group won the SQA International Star Award for 2014.
SQA has 33 approved centres delivering 14 HNDs in China and has certificated 26,000 students since the programme started in 2003.
SQA’s priority in China is working with centres to enhance quality and ensure that students are well prepared for progressing into work or university.
SQA has a growing number of approved education providers (centres) in Sri Lanka that are able to offer Higher National Diplomas, such as Business and Computer Science.
In addition, our Customised Awards in Software Engineering are giving students in Sri Lanka the opportunity to articulate to degree programmes in a number of UK universities.
SQA is currently working with a number of employers and training establishments across the Gulf to deliver either SQA qualifications or to develop Customised Awards.
Two large colleges in the region offer a range of HNCs and HNDs. One has an articulation arrangement with a Scottish university.
SQA recently presented at the GPCA (Gulf Petroleum & Chemicals Association) conference in Dubai on the future role of regulated exams in the Dangerous Goods Driver and Safety Advisor sector. Currently, SQA manages and runs these exams for the Department of Transport in the UK.

Over the last 12 months we have been raising awareness of SQA, our products and services within the Americas region: the most prominent event we attended being NAFSA — the Association of International Educators.
SQA has an active centre based in Michigan delivering the HNC/HND in Business. This centre has become a strong advocate of the qualifications and the work we do and is helping to influence our presence in this state.
