Inverness College UHI won the Changing Colleges Award, sponsored by SQA, at the College Development Network Annual Awards on Thursday 26th November.

The awards recognise the talent, skills and achievements of colleges, their staff and learners, and provide a valuable opportunity to celebrate the outstanding projects and initiatives taking place in colleges the length and breadth of Scotland.

The Changing Colleges Award recognises leadership and innovation in the development of regional colleges. The judges commended Inverness College for improving the quality of its provision, strengthening its relationship with stakeholders and redefining its contribution to regional development. As a result, student outcomes have improved and applications for 2015–16 programmes have increased by 20 per cent.

SQA Chief Executive, Dr Janet Brown, presented staff from the College with the award at the ceremony. She said: “We were delighted to be the overall sponsors of the College Development Network Annual Awards as well as the category sponsor for the prestigious Changing Colleges Award. We heard about some fantastic work from the finalists who have each innovated in the development of regional colleges. I would like to congratulate all of the finalists and in particular the category winners, Inverness College UHI.”
