Annual Review – Service
The needs of our customers are at the heart of everything we do. From hosting support and training events, to improving our online and digital services, to handling enquiries; we aim to provide our customers with the support and services they need.
We have high standards for ourselves and our customers.
We continued our roll-out of the new qualifications. Over 1.1 million exam scripts were marked in 2015 and we delivered 180 subject-based training sessions for teachers.
Online and digital services
We created the @SQAsupport Twitter account - adding a new way for customers to get in touch. Our Apps were improved and downloaded over 163,000 times and we nearly reached 20 million page views.
Over the last year, we ran hundreds of events for centres providing them with information and support. Our Customer Contact Centre handled over 150,000 enquiries by phone, e-mail and online.
SQA across the globe
Our qualifications are global. The countries we work with include China, Myanmar, India and the United States. In 2015 our international centre events took place in Sri Lanka and United Arab Emirates.
In March 2016, SQA Accreditation had 993 accredited qualifications. Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs) accounted for 657 of these.
Item Validation Trial for Standards and Testing Agency
SQA was awarded a Standards and Testing Agency (STA) contract to carry out part of the trialling process to assess the performance and validity of test items for future National Curriculum assessments at Key Stage 2.
We’re supporting Scotland’s colleges as many transform into multi-campus regional institutions.
College Curriculum Advisory Group
As part of this commitment we began the College Curriculum Advisory Group, ensuring curriculum leaders and SQA’s management have a forum to share information on topics such as Developing the Young Workforce and our SQA qualifications portfolio.
All of Scotland’s colleges are members of the group, as is the College Development Network. The group’s discussions have been well supported by partners such as the Scottish Funding Council and Skills Development Scotland.
