File Formats

File formats for bitmap and vector graphics can be divided into compressed and uncompressed formats. Uncompressed formats are used for creating and editing graphics. They maintain all the original information therefore they can be edited, eg in Adobe Photoshop all the layer information is maintained.

Uncompressed formats are used for creating and editing graphics. They maintain all the original information therefore they can be edited, whether it is on the web, for a standalone application or disc based multimedia applications (presentations, interactive DVD ROMs).
