CRT versus LCD

The Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) was the first type of display device used for PCs. It works in a similar way to that of old television sets by using an electronic vacuum tube. This type of display can be found with many modern computer systems but its popularity is waning due to the latest types of display technology which includes Liquid Crystal Displays (LCD)

A Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) is flatter and thinner than a CRT and therefore does not take up much space. It is popular with computer users and computer engineers. The engineers like it because it uses very little power which makes it suitable for battery powered devices such as laptops.
