Firewall Protection

Accessing the Internet can cause problems with security on your computer. If you share your computer's resources locally, then hackers on the Internet can access them. To prevent this you should always have firewall protection to control traffic between your computer and the Internet. Windows XP has its own firewall and most virus protection companies also provide firewalls for individual computers and networks. A good free firewall for home use is Zone Alarm. If you connect to the Internet through a proxy server, then this provides a measure of security, but there should always be a firewall between the proxy server and the Internet to provide security to the internal network.
