NQ Understanding Standards 2022-23
We are continuing to provide a programme of Understanding Standards support for National Courses in session 2022–23. The programme will help teachers, lecturers and training providers to develop their understanding of the standards required for assessment, in line with the modifications to assessment that remain in place for session 2022–23.
Events and webinars
From September 2022 until February 2023, we will once again be running a series of subject-specific webinars. The webinars will support you with understanding the standards for assessment in National Courses, in line with the published modifications to assessment that remain in place for session 2022–23.
Understanding Standards webinars are free to join and can contribute to your Continued Professional Development (CPD). Each webinar will last around an hour and we will share more details in upcoming issues of SQA News. You can find details here of three webinars taking place in November – for National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher Physical Education – which are already open for booking.
This session, we are also holding face-to-face events for a number of subjects where feedback from stakeholders indicates in-depth support is needed. These live events will replace the longer workshop style webinars that we previously held during session 2021–22.
In September, we will publish course reports for National Courses. These reports will highlight areas of the 2022 assessments where learners performed well and any areas of the assessments that proved demanding. They will also contain helpful and constructive advice on preparing your current learners for assessment.
Course reports will be available from the beginning of September.
Please note that we are no longer providing performance reports for individual centres.
Understanding Standards materials
We have a wide range of subject-specific materials that can help you prepare your learners for assessment and strengthen your own understanding of the standards required in SQA assessments.
We regularly review and update these materials to ensure they remain relevant and useful, and we will continue to publish new materials where these are needed.
Understanding Standards materials include:
- Candidate evidence and commentary materials
- Audio presentations
- Webinar recordings
- Practical skills videos
- Audio and video recordings of performances and practical assessments
We will publish new materials throughout session 2022–23. You can find details here of newly published material for Skills for Work Laboratory Science at National 5.
