HN Legal Services - impact of Brexit on HN delivery and assessment and other legislative changes
We are aware that, as a result of the UK’s departure from the European Union, a number of units and assessment materials within the Legal Services frameworks require revision to address references to European Law and to take account of legislative changes that may have impacted upon Scots Law and the Scottish Legal System.
We encourage centres to review and revise their learning and delivery materials on a regular basis where possible and, in the case of legislation impacting an HN programme, there is an expectation that the most current legislation would be taught until such times as the SQA materials are revised. Therefore, centres should carry out their own internal quality assurance processes to identify the impact of any legislative changes on its existing learning and delivery materials for the units affected, as well as any centre-devised assessments or amendments to SQA assessments.
It is also strongly recommended that centres make use of the SQA Prior Verification service to ensure any amended SQA assessment or centre-devised assessment is appropriate and valid before use. Further information on this service, as well as the application form to be completed when submitting assessments, is available on our website.
Due to the volume of units impacted by various legislative changes, we will revise these on an on-going basis, and further updates will be issued via SQA News as revised units become available.
