Important information regarding the 2023 National Qualifications exam timetable
On Wednesday 16 November 2022 we issued an update for centres on the approach to assessment for National Qualifications in 2022-23. You can read the summary statement on our website.
In the update we explained the need to review the 2023 exam timetable to take account of the public holiday marking the King’s coronation on 8 May. The revised version of the 2023 National Qualifications exam timetable is now available on SQA Connect in both pdf and Excel formats. We’ve moved the exams that were scheduled for this date to alternative dates. This affects German and Design and Manufacture exams at National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher.
German exams have been moved to Friday 5 May 2023 with Advanced Higher in the morning, and National 5 and Higher in the afternoon. Design and Manufacture exams have been moved to the afternoon of Tuesday 30 May.
Separately, as a result of your feedback, we have made timing changes to some other exams. These changes provide better timings of exams and breaks for both candidates and invigilators. Please note that these exams are not changing day or date. The affected exams are:
Wednesday 26 April - Administration and IT
Administration and IT National 5 (previously 13:30 – 15:00) is now 13:00 – 14:30
Administration and IT Higher (previously 13:30 – 15:00) is now 13:00 – 14:30
Wednesday 26 April - Latin
Latin National 5 Paper 2: Translating P2 (previously 13:30 – 14:30) is now 13:00 – 14:00
Latin Higher Paper 2: Translating P2 (previously 13:30 – 14:30) is now 13:00 – 14:00
Latin Advanced Higher Paper 2: Translating P2 (previously 13:30 – 14:30) is now 13:00 – 14:00
Monday 29 May - Drama
Drama National 5 (previously 13:30 – 15:00) is now 12:30 – 14:00
Drama Higher (previously 13:30 – 16:00) is now 12:30 – 15:00
Monday 29 May - Psychology
Psychology Higher (previously 11:00 – 13:00) is now 09:00 – 11:00
Wednesday 31 May - Care
Care National 5 (previously 12:30 – 13:40) is now 09:00 – 10:10
Care Higher (previously 12:30 – 14:00) is now 09:00 – 10:30
Wednesday 31 May - Practical Cake Craft
Practical Cake Craft (previously 09:00 – 09:45) is now 12:30 – 13:15
Please ensure that you share this information with your learners. Please use this updated timetable and delete any previous copies of the 2023 exam timetable you may have printed or downloaded. We will also update the extra time calculator and publish it on SQA Connect shortly.
Thursday 1 June will remain as a contingency day within the timetable.
