Teachers take part in practical skills events
Over 130 teachers took part in our practical skills events for Practical Cake Craft and Practical Cookery, which took place on Saturday 18 March at City of Glasgow College.
The events, which were part of this year’s Understanding Standards programme, were aimed at new teachers or teachers who have been delivering Practical Cake Craft and Practical Cookery courses for a short time.
During the events, teachers worked alongside lecturing staff from the college to line and decorate a cake or produce a three-course meal. As well as developing their cake decorating and cookery skills, they also took part in sessions with our principal assessors, who shared best practice on preparing candidates for the assignment in each course.
Graeme Findlay, Qualifications Manager for the Practical Cake Craft and Practical Cookery courses, said after the event, ‘A big thank you to the staff at City of Glasgow College for delivering what was an excellent day’s training for the teachers. We’ve had very encouraging feedback from those who attended, with many saying they will be able to take the skills they’ve developed back into the classroom to the benefit of their candidates’.
