Understanding Standards

Understanding Standards Logo.

The purpose of the Understanding Standards Website is to help teaching professionals fully understand the standards of assessment as they are applied by the SQA examination
teams.

Visitors to the website have the opportunity to consider the principles which underpin the marking of their subjects and to apply this understanding by marking a number of candidate responses and comparing the marks they give with those given by the examination team.

The website is specifically designed for use by teaching staff, so it assumes subject knowledge and some familiarity with the various assessment arrangements. Courses covered range from Access 3 through to Advanced Higher, as well as HN and PDA.

Survey: Remote delivery of assessment

SQA would like to better understand your experiences and expectations of delivering assessments remotely, and to improve the guidance available to schools, colleges, training providers and other centres. Please take our survey to help shape our approach.

We would like to hear from you whether you have been assessing learners remotely or not, and if you are delivering qualifications from SQA or from other awarding bodies – engagement with the survey will ensure your voice is included when considering future approaches. The survey will feed into a wider project involving more detailed discussions with groups of education practitioners and case-studies of remote assessment approaches used in SQA centres.

This survey is for centres and practitioners and should take around five minutes to complete. All feedback is welcome and please be assured that all responses are anonymous unless answering on behalf of an institution or organisation.
