SQA offers Woodmachining (Construction/Sawmilling Extrusion at Level 3.
This SVQ is based on the National Occupational Standards (NOS) set and published by the Sector Skills Council for the sector, Construction Skills.
The standards provide an accurate and detailed definition of what candidates must know, understand and be able to do. This SVQ will enable those working in this sector to develop the knowledge and skills required to demonstrate competence in their job role.
Important Information about this SVQ
This qualification should not be commenced if the candidate is not on the Modern Apprenticeship programme.
SVQ Level 3 contains the Unit B664 04 Integrative Assessment in the Construction Industry which is required by Industry to prove candidates are competent and have completed the Modern Apprenticeship. This Unit requires an independent external assessment carried out on behalf of industry by SBATC and SPADAC Industry Accredited Assessors. The Skills Test Centres are approved by CITB who set the standard and train invigilators.

Approval
To gain approval for this qualification centres need to apply to SQA for approval. Centres can only deliver this SVQ to Modern Apprentices and therefore must be involved with The Scottish Building Apprenticeship & Training Council (SBATC) and/or The Scottish Painting and Decorating Apprenticeship Council (SPADAC) who are the appropriate Apprenticeship Training Councils and Apprenticeship Registration Bodies for Construction Craft apprentices.
When approved for this SVQ Level 3 centres will be approved for all Units with the exception of Unit B664 04 Integrative Assessment in the Construction Industry. This Unit is required by Industry to prove candidates are competent and have completed the Modern Apprenticeship. This Unit requires an independent external assessment carried out on behalf of industry by SBATC and SPADAC Industry Accredited Assessors. The Skills Test Centres are approved by CITB who set the standard and train invigilators. SBATC and SPADAC are approved to enter and result B664 04 when the candidate's successfully complete the Assessment of the Unit.
