Our annual Star Awards is a celebration of the outstanding achievements in education and training not just in Scotland, but throughout the UK and around the world.

The SQA Star Awards recognise the achievements of individuals working towards SQA qualifications as well as the schools, colleges, training providers and employers who help to deliver SQA qualifications — that enable learners to achieve their ambitions.

This year’s ceremony will be held in Edinburgh, and there will be 13 awards presented. These include School, College and Training Organisation Candidate of the Year, SQA Champion, Partnership of the Year, Lifelong Learning Centre of the Year, Innovation and Promoting Inclusion.

Siôn Morgan Jones, Director at ACOP Training Limited, based in Wales, who won the Centre of the Year in the Wider UK last year, said "We were truly delighted to win the SQA Star Award for Centre of the Year in the Wider UK. The award reflects the hard work of our conscientious candidates, our dedicated assessors, our quality assurance team, and our administrative support.  I wholly recommend entering this year's competition. It's fantastic to have our efforts recognised on the national stage."

Saranne McGee from GMD Community Services nominated Jason Smith for the Training Organisation Candidate of the Year Award, which led to Jason picking up the trophy in this category. Saranne says: “‘The SQA Star Awards gave me a great opportunity to have the dedication of one of our candidates recognised. It was a fantastic evening and I would encourage anyone to submit a nomination.”

Please do nominate and encourage your colleagues to do so too – the closing date is Friday 7 July 2017.
