SQA celebrate technology in education and Scottish Digital Business Awards

Alistair Wylie, Head of Technology, Engineering & Construction at SQA, presents Giglets Education with the Education and Training Award

SQA helped recognise businesses which have embraced the opportunities offered by digital technology at the recent Scottish Digital Business Awards.

Now in their tenth year, the range of projects which these Awards have highlighted demonstrate that Scotland is a world leader in technological innovation. This was evident in the Education and Training category, which SQA was proud to sponsor. Each finalist had used digital technology to enhance the learning experience.

Nominated in this category were Bolt Learning, who offer cutting edge online training services. Joining them in the category were Giglets Education, an online reading resource accessed by over 25,000 school pupils every week. Screenmedia were nominated for their work designing Abertay University a new website. The fourth nominee was SmartSTEMS, who are brining schools, colleges and employers together to encourage young people into Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics.

At the ceremony, we were delighted to present the award to Giglets Education.

Alistair Wylie, Head of Technology, Engineering & Construction at SQA said, "It has been inspiring to hear about the wide range of innovative digital projects taking place in Scottish businesses, which are allowing them to better meet customer needs. SQA is proud to sponsor the Education and Training Award, which has demonstrated the transformative impact which technologies can have on learning experiences. On behalf of SQA I'd like to congratulate all the finalists and in particular the category winner, Giglets Education, on their achievements."
