The SQA Advanced Diploma in Financial and Business Management (SCQF level 8) provides current insight and skills in the main aspects of accounting and business.

The unit-based structure supports flexible delivery. A unit is typically 40 hours of timetabled learning.

Who does this qualification suit

The SQA Advanced Diploma in Financial and Business Management is suitable for a wide range of candidates including:

  • school leavers

  • those who wish to pursue a career in financial or general business management

Entry requirements

As with all SQA qualifications, entry is decided by the centre. As a guide, the learning provider will look for:

  • school-leaving qualifications equivalent to RQF/CQFW level 3/SCQF level 6 — meaning that the student has the ability to study at SQA Advanced Diploma level
  • a centre-devised test which shows the student’s ability to study at SQA Advanced Diploma level
  • relevant work experience

Progression

The SQA Advanced Diploma in Financial and Business Management can provide advanced entry to degree-level study. For further information, please refer to the SQA university agreements.

Offer this qualification

Centres with devolved authority for approval should use their own internal approval process.

Centres without devolved authority require to come forward for approval and should contact SQA’s Business Development Team for guidance.

Assessors and verifiers must be able to meet SQA’s general requirements for technical/occupational competence as outlined in the Systems and Qualification Approval Guide.

Qualification structure

This Group Award has entered into its lapsing period.

The lapsing date for this qualification is 31 July 2018.

The finishing date for this qualification is 31 July 2022.

Centres should note that when a Group Award is entered into its lapsing period, the following will apply:

  • The Group Award Arrangement document will remain until the qualification reaches its finish date at which point it will be removed from SQA website and archived.
  • No new centres may be approved to offer the Group Award.
  • Centres should only enter candidates whom they expect to complete the Group Award during the defined lapsing period
