The annual Scottish Education Awards are an opportunity to showcase excellent work and innovation taking place in Scottish classrooms. Across a number of categories, the awards recognise the dedication of schools, and those that work in them.

SQA attended the awards ceremony, which brought together school staff and pupils from across the country, as sponsors of the Employability and Creativity across Learning category. This category celebrates schools that have developed a positive and innovative culture.

Shortlisted for this award were: Abercromby Primary School, Clackmannanshire; Newbattle High School, Midlothian and; St Modan's High School, Stirling.

Newbattle High School were announced as the category winners at the awards ceremony. The school was commended for their excellent approach to inclusivity, skills development and innovation.

Alasdair MacRae, Head of Business Development at SQA, presented the award. He said: “In creating a positive and progressive ethos, our category finalists are giving pupils new opportunities to reach their full potential. They are being equipped with the skills they’ll need to thrive in the world of work. It has been fantastic to be part of an event which recognises the positive impact of schools’ dedication to their leaners.”
