Monday 11 November 2019

SQA came together with apprentices, training providers and employers for the Scottish Apprenticeship Awards – a celebration of the contribution apprenticeships make to the country’s economy.

We attended the awards, which are in their 18th year, as sponsors of the Large Employer of the Year category. This award acknowledges the commitment and support of apprenticeships demonstrated by large employers.

Shortlisted in the category were James Frew Ltd. The company have been offering apprenticeships for over 40 years and today they deliver Modern Apprenticeships in Plumbing, Commercial Heating and Joinery.

Also shortlisted were the Robertson Group, a construction company who offer apprenticeships in a variety of areas, including Planning, Site Management and Administration.

The award was presented to fellow finalists J.P. Morgan. The company is Scotland’s largest technology employer and has more than 60 Graduate Apprentices at its centre in Glasgow’s financial services district.

SQA Chief Executive Fiona Robertson, who presented the award, said: “Our Large Employer of the Year finalists recognise the value of investing in a high quality apprenticeship scheme. They are rewarded with a highly skilled talent pipeline, and an engaged, motivated workforce. Congratulations to all our finalists, and in particular our winners, J.P. Morgan.”
