Joan Duncan is the winner of the Appointee of the Year Award at the SQA Star Awards 2019.

Joan has been a Senior Team Leader in Advanced Higher English for several years. Her nurturing and thorough approach has won high praise from colleagues, and she regularly 'goes the extra mile', for example by checking more marked scripts than required, and feeding her findings from this back to her team.

Colleagues note her 'kindliness and good humour' and an 'indefatigable' desire to 'do her best for every candidate'.

She recently also helped with the Key Stage 2 marking contract for SQA, and her work was very well received by the client, the Standards Testing Agency.
