Arrangements for assessing National 3, National 4 and freestanding units in session 2020-21

As a result of the modifications to Higher and Advanced Higher course assessments for session 2020-21 — and the modifications to National 5 course assessments that were planned prior to the cancellation of the 2021 National 5 exams — we have been exploring the implications for National 3 and National 4 courses, and some freestanding units at SCQF levels 5, 6 and 7.

We are making modifications to National 3 and National 4 assessments, and freestanding unit assessments, for the following subjects in session 2020-21. These modifications aim to support the delivery of learning, teaching and assessment this session.

We have published summary documents that detail the arrangements for these assessments in session 2020-21. These are available from the relevant NQ subject pages of our website at www.sqa.org.uk/nqsubjects and you can also access them from the links below.
