Delivering and assessing regulated qualifications in 2020-21

At the end of September, we issued an update to centres on arrangements for delivering and assessing qualifications regulated by SQA Accreditation, Ofqual and Qualifications Wales in session 2020-21.

Towards the end of session 2019-20, we confirmed which qualifications could continue to be delivered as normal and which were subject to a pause. For 2020-21, some qualifications will continue to need adjustments, and we are continuing to work with industry, stakeholders and regulators on the details of these. In many instances, this means that there is no change to the position from session 2019-20.

The following spreadsheets confirm the current position for all regulated qualifications regulated by SQA Accreditation and those regulated by Ofqual and Qualifications Wales:

Joint statement from AoC, AELP, HOLEX, FAB, JCQ and Ofqual

Association of Colleges (AoC), Association of Employment and Learning Providers (AELP), The Federation of Awarding Bodies (FAB), HOLEX, Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) and Ofqual have published a joint statement on vocational and technical qualifications. The statement recognises the collaborative approach taken in 2019-20 and sets out the expectations for 2020-21.

The statement also advises that awarding organisations will get in touch with centres to share their planned approach and any adaptations to qualifications in 2020-21, which SQA has now done. We will keep you informed of any further developments.
