About Customised Awards

This service offers the opportunity to develop a qualification that is tailored to meet the needs of your staff. SQA will guide you through the development process, provide quality assurance and issue commemorative certificates. There is also the opportunity to have the award credit rated onto the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF).

Customised Awards can assist employers and employees in recognising and increasing skills levels, and provide recognition and development opportunities for individuals.

They can also help a company meet regulatory requirements and to demonstrate the competence of its employees to external parties.

Customised Awards are competence based qualifications designed to allow the customer flexibility in the design, content and format of the qualification. Support is provided by SQA staff for the development of the qualification, the creation of the award on SQA systems and the design of the certificates. The assessment material is developed by the customer.

SQA’s own robust external quality assurance systems apply to customised awards. This would mean quality assurance visits would be carried out by an External Verifier from SQA and that the customer would need to become an approved SQA centre. This can enhance a company’s corporate image and provide a competitive advantage, as the awards comply with the rigour of SQA’s mainstream quality assurance criteria.
