National Qualifications: How awards are made describes the quality assurance procedures SQA carries out every year to make sure that the awards made to candidates for National Qualifications are fair and that standards are rigorously maintained from year to year.
How awards are madePast Paper Service
We provide past papers from the most recent years' exams in all National Qualifications Courses. When used along with the relevant year's marking instructions, these provide an indispensable resource.

Development work on National Qualifications 2010-2011
A report on development work relating to National Qualifications can be downloaded from the Related Information panel on the right. It includes information about the following:
- information about new and revised National Courses developed for implementation in 2010/2011 (including Skills for Work Courses) and their approval implications.
- information about National Courses which have been removed from the Catalogue of National Qualifications and action to be taken with their Units
- a list of new and revised Units which are not part of National Courses and their approval implications.
- Awards, National Certificates, National Progression Awards and Professional Development Awards which have been developed since the last report (2009-2010) was published, and their approval implications.
- information about all National Units which will not be in the catalogue from session 2010/2011 onwards, some of which are subject to the conditions of a completion period.
