SVQs get UCAS tariff rating

We have been working together with UCAS to determine a model which would allocate UCAS tariff points to SVQs sitting at SCQF Level 6 using the SCQF credit points. 

As the majority of SVQs comprise of a mandatory group of units and an optional group of units, this results in most SVQs having a spread of credit points determined by the optional units selected by the candidate.  

In order to be able to allocate UCAS tariff points, UCAS proposed a banding model, which is similar to how it has treated other SCQF credit rated qualifications which have a span of SCQF credit points. SQA Accreditation has agreed to this model.

UCAS will now allocate tariff points to all SVQs at SCQF level 6 on an annual basis and will appear in UCAS’ Tariff Tables from May 2023.
