Changes to SQA Advanced Qualifications - subject guidance 2023-24
For academic session 2023-24, we will be removing alternative assessment approaches. The alternative assessment approaches were introduced as temporary measures in 2020-21 to address the significant disruption to learning and teaching caused by the pandemic.
Over recent months, we have engaged with the education community to consider the impact of the temporary arrangements. Our findings indicate that, post-pandemic, the temporary assessment arrangements are no longer required.
The arrangements for assessment in 2023-24 are set out below.
Session 2023-24 onwards
For all qualifications we will return to our previous assessment arrangements by:
- Re-instating the evidence requirements for Graded Units in SQA Advanced Qualifications.
- Removing all Alternative Assessment Guidance.
- Updating the generic guidance to support the integration of delivery and assessment.
The updated generic guidance will be published on the subject webpages by 31 August 2023. We hope this will encourage practitioners to continue to build on the teaching and learning experiences of the last few years.
