National 5 Practical Metalworking and National 5 Practical Woodworking - new parts and materials lists for the practical activities

We’ve published new parts and materials lists for the National 5 Practical Metalworking and National 5 Practical Woodworking practical activities for session 2024–25. They’re available from the ‘Parts and Materials’ tab of the National 5 Practical Metalworking web page and the National 5 Practical Woodworking web page.

We provide two sets of documents for the practical activities:

Parts and materials list

This is an initial simplified drawing, with a cutting list of the materials required. It doesn’t contain details of the construction information on the drawing, only the overall sizes. This allows you to plan and purchase materials before we publish the detailed drawings for the task.

Practical activity assessment task

This contains complete working drawings for the practical activity, and gives construction information, detailed dimensions, and a detailed cutting list for the component parts. We publish this on our SQA Secure website at the end of October each year, and it is only valid for that academic session.
