Authentication of evidence for learners with long term absences

We’re aware that there are a number of learners who do not regularly attend school. We recognise that long term absences from school may present issues when considering assessment arrangements or reasonable adjustments. Please make sure that learners  are able to fulfil all other parts of their course, including internal assessments that require submission of marks to us, or completion of externally assessed coursework, before considering the support they require for external exams.

Centres are responsible for ensuring that the relevant assessment conditions have been met, before entering a learner into an SQA qualification. Centre staff should monitor a learner’s progress within a project or coursework, and authenticate that the work completed belongs to the learner. If you have any concerns about the authenticity of the learner’s submission, you should investigate and resolve the issue in line with your centre or local authority malpractice procedures. If the concern relates to externally assessed coursework, the assessment materials should not be submitted to SQA for marking.
