NextGen: HN TV validation

Our NextGen: HNC and HND Television qualifications are successfully validated, marking a significant milestone in the NextGen: HN journey.

On Monday 29 April we held a validation panel was chaired by Fi Milligan-Rennie of Creative Scotland. The additional members of the panel included representatives from Higher Education, industry, and our education specialists. The meeting was very positive, with panel members unanimously agreeing that the new qualification fully meets all validation criteria.

The validation process is a first for NextGen: HN, which we will learn from as we use this model for the remaining NextGen: HN subjects waiting for validation over session 2024-2025.

Television has been at the forefront of this project. In session 2020-2021 they were the first, and only, subject to pilot, supporting our service-led design model by testing our NextGen: HN design principles. We are delighted that Television is also the first subject to move out of the pilot phase and into a delivery phase for session 2024-2025.  However, our innovation is not over and we will keep you updated about emerging practice in collaborative peer support, as we work to share the great practice from pilot with our new delivery centres.

These achievements have only been possible due to the collaboration between everyone involved, both internally and externally. We would like to extend our thanks particularly to our delivery and quality team colleagues at Edinburgh College, New College Lanarkshire and NESCOL who have made a critical contribution to television and our learners.
