Grading reviews
This summer, and into the early autumn, we will be conducting our final grading reviews as part of the NextGen: HN pilot. This will allow us to check in on the delivery of the HND qualifications that are part of the pilot.
Our focus is on understanding the following:
- how well the grading principles that have worked for NextGen: HNC still work well for NextGen: HND
- how centres have delivered our new approach to meta-skills, including how learner engagement in meta-skills is accounted for as part of the grading approach
- how Learning for Sustainability content has been delivered, and whether it should be included in grading.
Grading reviews include open-minded discussion with centres delivering the new qualifications, and allow us to listen to their experience and ensure we have set up the qualifications in the best way possible to meet their purpose and design principles.
This will be the last stage of our evaluation of these qualifications, as our grading principles are now well established, so we do not expect major changes. However, it's important that we test our assumptions in the context of the NextGen: HND qualifications, most of which were only delivered for the first time in session 2023-24.
