Standardisation
We have already identified, as part of our NextGen: HN pilot, how important standardisation of overall qualification grades will be to the future of NextGen: HN.
Standardisation means that SQA (or in future, Qualifications Scotland) will take responsibility for checking that centre grade judgements are consistent and correct across all centres and year on year, against an agreed national standard.
Standardisation will mean that HEIs can have confidence in the standard of the grades awarded on NextGen: HN qualifications, for example when thinking about entry requirements or articulation agreements.
This is a new process for NextGen: HNs and will be applied to all qualifications when they are moved out of pilot stage, and into business as usual – this starts with the NextGen: HN Television qualifications in session 2024-25.
We are discussing how this process will work, ensuring we take into account the views of our centres, and will share more information on this in due course.
