Subject summary
The 2024-25 academic year is the third full year of development for the NextGen: HN team in its current format. We intend to validate the remainder of the first batch of NextGen: HN qualifications over the course of this academic year. You can find a full list of the NextGen: HN qualifications which are currently being piloted on our website.
We will be introducing a new qualification this year – NextGen: HND Acting and Performance in Glasgow Kelvin College and West College Scotland – and we look forward to the development.
We also have two new qualifications about to commence development:
- NextGen: HNC/D Beauty Therapy and NextGen: HNC/D Complimentary Therapies
- eSports
These qualifications are in addition to the three new developments that are underway:
- Administration and Information Technology
- Built Environment suite
- Healthcare Practice
The roll-out of our NextGen: HN qualification delivery beyond our current pilot centres is dependent on our Digital Awarding project, which will develop new systems to support quality assurance, grading, certification and invoicing for NextGen: HN qualifications. The initial discovery phase is now complete and stage 2 is the initial implementation activity that supports NextGen: HN. The Business Case for stage 2 is now with the Scottish Government for review and approval to commence. The Digital Awarding team will continue to engage with centres and appointees to ensure we develop effective processes and systems.
