Applications of Mathematics - SOLAR assessments currently unavailable
The Applications of Mathematics SOLAR assessments at National 3, 4 and 5 are no longer available for use in Flash format.
We originally developed all SOLAR assessment content in Adobe Flash format. Adobe Flash is a legacy technology which was retired at the end of December 2020. As of January 2021, all Flash content was blocked from running in Flash player. Since then, our SOLAR software supplier has continued to support the delivery of Flash assessment content through the Surpass Viewer application. However, this is coming to an end soon.
Transitioning from Flash to HTML
We’ve been transitioning all SOLAR assessment content from legacy (Flash) format to standard (HTML) format over the last few years. However, we’re still working on transitioning the Applications of Mathematics content.
This is a complex piece of work and, at present, we’re unable to advise a date by which the Applications of Mathematics SOLAR assessments will be available in HTML format.
As the support for Flash assessment content is about to end, the Applications of Mathematics SOLAR assessments are no longer available for scheduling and delivering in Flash format. This includes summative and formative assessment content and our OpenAssess platform, which is also no longer available.
Assessing learners in session 2024-25
If you are delivering Applications of Mathematics courses in session 2024-25, we recommend assessing your learners using unit assessment support packs. These are available from the SQA Secure website, and you can arrange access to them through your SQA co-ordinator. You must store them securely and treat them as confidential when not in use.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
