Dundee & Angus College offering fast track to Dance Teaching Qualification
Course Overview
Are you a passionate teacher looking to expand your expertise and inspire your learners through dance? Join our dynamic 20-week fast track course at Dundee & Angus College in Dundee. You’ll gain an additional qualification in Dance, enabling you to teach National 5 and Higher Dance in your own centre. Our comprehensive program includes HNC level units in Dance History, Choreography, Jazz, and Contemporary, leading to further HND level units and a minimum of 80 SQA credits. You'll be fully equipped to deliver exceptional dance education and make a lasting impact on your learner's lives. This opportunity will elevate your teaching career and bring the joy of dance to your classroom. The course is designed to have an element of flexibility to work around your school teaching commitments.

This part time course will be delivered through in-person practical sessions and supported by online seminars and learning materials. Classes will take place every week on Thursday evening. Thursday sessions will usually take place in the Dundee & Angus bespoke Dance and Theatre facility from 18:00 – 21:00. In addition there will be some one-day weekend intensives, and some additional week days in June when we would invite you to Dundee & Angus College.
Entry requirements
You may be invited for an interview or information session if you meet the following requirements:
- You must hold a teaching qualification
- You must be fit to participate in studio-based dance activities
- Previous dance experience is advantageous
Cost
The total cost of the qualification will be £800. This can be paid by direct debit, instalments, or payment through your centre.

How the course is assessed
The assessments for the course will include both practical and academic submissions. The practical submissions will include dance technique and choreography assessments.
Attainment
You will gain a SQA required qualification at SCQF Level 7 to deliver NPA/NQ Dance in secondary schools. This will also provide an opportunity to progress on to Dance Skills for P.E. Teachers (SCQF Level 8).
