HNC Social Care update

Following the successful validation of the HNC Social Care, the Group Award and Units have now been finalised and codes allocated – see attached framework for details. The framework also includes a route for candidates who have previously achieved an SVQ in Care at level 3.

Centres previously approved for the HNC Social Care (G0WL 15) or HNC Social Care (incorporating SVQ at level 3) will be automatically approved for the new HNC Social Care (G7ME 15) and all the Units contained within the Group Award.

In addition the existing HNC Social Care (incorporating SVQ level 3) framework has also been amended to include the new SVQs in Health and Social Care level 3, thereby allowing those candidates who have previously completed seven HN Credits to achieve the award using the new SVQs. Note: No further entries will be accepted for this Group Award after 31 July 2005, however those candidate already entered for this award will have three years to complete.

The Arrangements document below provides guidance on delivery and assessment of the award and also contains assessment exemplars for the SVQ Units.

Assessment exemplars have been produced for all the mandatory Units – see below for details.

HNC Social Care - Open Learning Packs

Open Learning packs have been produced for a number of Units in HNC Social Care - see Arrangements Document for information. These packs can be purchased from SQA at a cost of £17.00 per pack plus a handling charge of £2.95 and can be ordered via the Customer Contact Centre.
