Co-ordinator Update 31 October 2024

National Qualifications verification update

We can now provide you with an update on the evidence submission service, prior verification and SCQF levels 5, 6 and 7 unit verification.

Evidence Submission Service

The platform for submitting evidence digitally will be available on SQA Connect later this year. This will allow you to upload candidate evidence and supporting documentation for digital verification. You’ll also be able to confirm whether you will submit digitally or use the physical uplift.

We strongly recommend use of the digital platform as this allows more flexibility for you to submit evidence within the timescales provided, as well as reducing the environmental impact of a physical submission.

The digital evidence submission platform for round 1 will be available from 9 December 2024 to 16 January 2025. For round 2, the service will open from 10 March to 22 April 2025.

We’ll publish updated guidance on SQA Connect in the ’User Guides’ section. The guidance will detail where to find the service, key dates, digital file types accepted and instructions on how to use the service.

If you have any questions about the NQ Verification – Evidence Submission Service please email the NQ Verification team at nqverification@sqa.org.uk.

National 2 to Advanced Higher prior verification

We offer a prior verification service to centres that devise their own assessments, or that significantly change SQA’s assessments to suit their particular needs. The service gives centres additional confidence that their proposed assessment is fit for purpose and meets national standards.

We are now accepting requests for prior verification of National 2 to Advanced Higher materials for the 2024–25 academic session. You should submit the approach to assessments you intend to use when seeking prior verification. We aim to meet a six-week turnaround time for all requests.

SQA and centres share responsibility for setting, conducting and marking the National 4 Added Value Unit. SQA provides exemplification of assessment, sets specific requirements for assessment conditions, and gives instructions on how to judge and/or mark evidence. National 4 Added Value Units are not suitable for prior verification.

For more information and guidance on making a request, please visit our prior verification web page. If you have any queries, please contact nqpv@sqa.org.uk or telephone 0345 213 6766.

SCQF levels 5, 6 and 7 unit verification

We sent a message to centres earlier this month about changes to SCQF levels 5, 6 and 7 unit verification.
