2026 exam timetable
The 2026 exams start on Wednesday 22 April and finish on Tuesday 2 June.
Results day will be Tuesday 4 August 2026.
We’ve updated the timetable published in December, with National 5 and Higher Urdu moving to Monday 1 June 2026. Please ensure you use the most recent version of the 2026 exam timetable.
The dates and times of all other exams are unchanged. If you have any queries about the exam timetable, please speak to your school, college or training provider in the first instance.
The planned date for the Scottish Parliament election is Thursday 7 May 2026. Exams will take place as normal on that date.

Timetable apps
Our MyExams app has been updated with the timetable changes made on Thursday 19 February.
Important for learners whose exams have changed
- MyStudyPlan users: If you imported exams before the update, remove them in the Subjects window (tap the edit icon in the top right, then the red icon next to each exam). After that, re-import from MyExams to get the new dates.
- Calendar users: If you exported exams to your calendar before the MyExams update, delete those entries and repeat the export again to ensure your dates are correct.
- If you are still seeing old exam dates on the MyExams app, check the app troubleshooting section below.

Timetable Q&A
I have exams on at the same time. How am I meant to sit them both?
While we do our best to avoid this happening, it is difficult to completely avoid due to the wide range of subject options available to learners. If you have exams happening at the same time, please speak to your school, college or training provider who will advise on the arrangements they can put in place for you.
My exams are so close together, why can they not be more spread out?
Designing a timetable that schedules a large number of exams across Scotland in a short period of time is a real challenge. Our aim is to create a timetable that offers the best solution for most learners and schools, colleges and training providers across Scotland, ensuring the fairest possible spread of exam dates for everyone.
